My Future in His Hands
"What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” -Pericles.
I live in a small town in Tulare County named Lindsay. I was born and raised here. I love this town but I also hate it, it's bittersweet here. I love this town because it was a part of what formed me. I met a lot of new people here. I lost and I gained friends. I’ve been sad and happy I’ve learned so much while I have been here. I don’t like this town because it’s small and most people have nothing better to do than cause fights and gossip like there’s no tomorrow. Overall this town is beautiful the history is amazing and I learn something new about my town everyday.
The people in my community are mostly Mexican but there are caucasian and other ethnic groups here. I live in a pretty diverse town. Many people travel here from Mexico or other counties or states because they have family here. During the Spring season the smell of orange’s blooming makes it feel like I’m at home. Like this is where I belong. I love the fresh air during this time also it's feels nice to take a good breath of fresh air.
The reason I chose this quote is because of my past and where I live, I want to make a difference in others lives. I want to impact the ones who are depressed or everyone and anyone I meet. Someone who has inspired me who has been there to guide me out of my depression and the One who took my pain away and just helped me through it all is Jesus Christ. Yes, Jesus has helped me and because of Him I want to help others I want to be there for them and tell them that they are loved. That there is something out there for them.
Some obstacles I had to overcome was my depression, depression is not easy to go through. Always feeling worthless, feeling unloved even when people try there hardest to love you. It gives you a numbing feeling you can’t feel anything. I had to overcome pride, because of my pride it lead me to not care about others. If someone didn’t care about me I wouldn’t care about them. I also was shy very very shy I couldn’t even approach a teacher or raise my hand to ask for help. I felt ashamed and unworthy, I felt as if I asked for help I was stupid. I later found out that is a lie and I shouldn’t be afraid to ask questions and it's O.K to fail we just got to try again and again until we get it right.
Some advice I would give others is to never give up! Never let anyone bring you down and especially to not bring themselves down. I would say to them to love themselves because they we’re created in God’s image and He is beautiful even if we seem unattractive it shouldn’t matter the right people will love them for who they are not what they look like. I would say focus on school and not on how many friends they have or even if they are “loners.” They should focus on their education and not on relationships, they can or at least should wait. If they do get into a relationship, I would say make sure you base your decisions on what you want, on your own desires and plans and not on what they want because we never know if the relationship will last. Make sure to put God first in everything make sure to consult God on your decisions because "everything Godly people do goes well" according to His will.
Some goals I’ve set for myself are to go to Grand Canyon University for 4 years and major in Philosophy and Religious Studies and nursing. When I finish school I will move to Visalia and rent an apartment and spread the Word and Love of God throughout the valley and the world. I hope to go on Mission trips in Africa and visit Jerusalem.
